Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park is located along the Downeast coast on Mount Desert Island and has two public campgrounds.
Blackwoods Campground is just south of Bar Harbor and open year-round with 306 sites. During the main season May 1 – October 31 Blackwoods welcomes tenters and recreational vehicles including pop-ups, vehicle campers, and RVs up to 35' long and 11'8" tall. During the offseason December 1 – March 31 a limited number of free primitive sites are available to walk-in campers. The campground has restrooms with running water, evening campfire programs and is a stop for the park's Island Explorer Shuttle. Showers are available nearby.
Seawall Campground is located near Southwest Harbor and is open late May through September 30 with 214 sites. Approximately half of the campsites are non-reservable and sold on a first come, first served basis to arriving guests. Seawall has tent, camper, motor home and group sites. Fees are per site, per night, and walk-in tent sites have a reduced rate. Campers can be picked up by the Island Explorer Shuttle to explore the eastern side of the park.
Acadia Wildwood Stables Campground is another option open only to park visitors with stock animals.
The Acadia National Park parcel on Isle au Haut is home to Duck Harbor Campground. This remote island campground off the coast of Stonington has five lean-to shelters open to campers from May 15 to October 15.
