Historic Sites Turn Festive for the Holidays
2011 Winter
one of America's most important and best preserved historic homes of the 19th century. Professional designers decorate themed rooms which hold original furniture, artwork and personal belongings. The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore offers visitors a glimpse of the Christmas season in the late 1800s. Period parlor games, storytelling and holiday readings, activities for children, caroling and jingle bell wagon rides are part of the festivities during an annual December open house. The 1813 Mason House in Bethel is adorned with decorated trees, wreaths and bells, and each room is illuminated by candlelight during the annual Christmas With the Mason's event.
