Although Spring is still weeks away, it might be time for a reminder of warmer months. Visit the oasis known as the Portland Flower Show, Northern New England’s only remaining flower show, which is open from Wednesday, March 11 to Sunday, March 15.
Visitors can stroll through delightful gardens created by fourteen exhibitors, each interpreting the theme “From the Mountains to the Sea” with creative displays of stone, trees, shrubs and flowers that have been forced into bloom months ahead of their normal time. The show will also feature numerous educational exhibits and a wide array of speakers covering topics ranging from beekeeping and organic gardening to grape growing in Maine’s cold climate. Don’t miss the annual Cumberland County Master Gardener Plant Auction held on Sunday, March 15. There is both a live and a silent auction with plants, trees, shrubs, and gardening items and services.
The flower show is held in the buildings of the Portland Company Complex along Portland’s eastern waterfront and a free shuttle runs along Commercial Street. For more information, please visit www.portlandcompany.com/flower/.
