World's First Cryptozoology Museum Opens in Portland
Believers and nonbelievers of Bigfoot can pose with him and other unexplained creatures at the new International Cryptozoology Museum in downtown Portland.
The museum is curated by Portland cryptozoologist and author Loren Coleman, whose collection of more than 250 artifacts includes an 8-foot-tall, 400-pound replica of Wisconsin’s “Crookston Bigfoot”. Bigfoot and Yeti footcasts and sculptures of the Feejee Mermaid, Coelacanth fish and Jackalope are also on exhibit. Cryptid toys and souvenirs, and paintings, drawings and bronzes by the world’s leading cryptozoology artists are on display, along with props from movies and television series like the Mothman Prophecies.
The museum is located at 661 Congress Street inside The Green Hand book shop and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 5:00 p.m.
