Family Attractions

Mother Nature has given Maine mountains, beaches, rivers and lakes to explore, but the state is home to many other attractions for the whole family. Amusement parks and water parks have thrill rides and fun games for excitement on a sunny day. Maine's animal parks and zoos feature native wildlife along with exotic and rare animals you wouldn't expect to see so far from their home.

There's lots of fun waiting to be had at mini golf courses in the state, and those who want to see professional athletes at work can see exciting American Hockey League, minor league baseball, and NBA Development League action in the city of Portland. Other fun spectator sports include stock car and drag racing, harness racing and college athletics.

Nearly 50 state parks and historic sites are destinations for outdoor recreation, sightseeing and hands-on learning. Tour a living history museum to learn about the life of a farmer in the 1800s or that of a logger in the 1700s.

Take a guided photography tour to see birds, moose or other wildlife up close, or explore forests, fields and mountainsides on horseback.

Maine agricultural fairs offer entertainment, fun contests, children's activities and delicious food from July through October. There's something for everyone at a fair. It's one Maine attraction that could be perfect for you.
