Lamoine Beach

Lamoine Beach offers visitors a lovely half-mile stretch of sandy beach and refreshing ocean swimming. Enjoy spectacular views of the mountain skyline of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park across the waters of Frenchman’s Bay. Picnic facilities and restrooms are available at this friendly local beach. Launch a boat or kayak at the public ramp and explore the scenic Mount Desert Narrows, or fish from the saltwater pier.

Nearby Lamoine State Park has a large day use area complete with picnic tables, grills and oceanfront views.  A volleyball net, horseshoe pits and a children’s playground add to the family fun. The campground features 62 sites for tents, campers and RVs, and two sites for large groups. Each site is equipped with picnic table and fire ring. Restrooms and showers are close by.

The town beach and state park are just far enough from busy Route 1 to be quiet and relaxed, yet are easily accessible to the popular coastal attractions in the area.  Ellsworth has a complete range of services, shopping, dining and entertainment, as does the village of Bar Harbor, which serves as the gateway to Acadia National Park. A leisurely drive along the Park Loop Road reveals many of the natural wonders of this national treasure, from oceanside cliffs, pebble beaches and pounding surf to dramatic mountains, fragrant forests and pristine ponds. Watch the sunrise or sunset from atop Cadillac Mountain, the highest point along the east coast of the U.S., for an experience to be cherished.
