Hills Beach

Hills Beach in Biddeford is a 500-yard stretch of sandy beach on the north side of Biddeford Pool near the mouth of the Saco River. Steep dunes lead down to this quiet beach, which is protected by the breakwater on the north side and the curve of the cove to the south. Parking is very limited along the streets of the neighborhood near the beach, so bicycling or walking from closer to town may be best. There is no lifeguard, and there are no toilet facilities at Hills Beach. Birdwatching is a popular activity at the beach owing to its proximity to the wetlands of Biddeford Pool.

Take a walking tour of Saco’s historic Main Street, or spend some time at the Saco Museum and view the many fine and decorative arts and historic artifacts. Take in a show or a concert at the historic City Theater in Biddeford, opened as an opera house opened in 1860. Spend some time at the Seashore Trolley Museum, the oldest and largest museum of public transportation, and its collection of more than 250 transit vehicles.
