Outlet Beach

Enjoy fabulous swimming and relaxing in the sun at this fine family-owned jewel of a beach located on the northern shore of picturesque Sabbathday Lake, a fixture on the lake since 1930. The source of the scenic Royal River is here – just a few feet wide at its start – before flowing through the countryside to empty into the ocean at Yarmouth.

Two floating docks are maintained and a floating diving board and slide sits offshore amid the clear waters. Toilets are available and there are bathhouses for changing too. The boat launch is the put in spot for small motor boats, canoes and kayaks. Canoes, paddleboats, kayaks and tubes are available for rental. A snack bar serves up lots of wholesome foods and traditional treats. Grab a bite at the snack bar or bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy it at the picnic area beautifully situated on the tall white pines.

Pets and smoking are not allowed at Outlet Beach.

The historic Shaker Village and Museum is nearby on the other end of Sabbathday Lake and is well worth a visit. At the Maine Wildlife Park visitors can see more than 30 species of animals, tour the visitor center, picnic and talk pleasant walks of the nature, wetlands and game trails. Nearby Gray village has a complete range of services.

Outlet Beach is open from Memorial Day through mid-September.
