Barrett's Cove Beach - Megunticook Lake

Megunticook Lake is a scenic gem at the base of the Camden Hills in Camden. At the east end of the lake, just three miles from the harbor and the ocean, is Barrett’s Cove Beach, a beautiful spot for swimming and picnicking that is rarely crowded. The beach has a designated swimming area and a shallow area for children. A diving platform floats offshore.

Adjacent to the beach is a grassy area with picnic tables and grills, and an outhouse nearby. Parking is free and close to the beach. A boat launch is located just around the cove, where kayakers and boaters can set off to explore the sights of the lake.

Camden Hills State Park offers tent and RV camping on 102 sites, restrooms, showers, a playground and day use area, as well as many miles of mountain and woods hiking. Take in the sights of the harbor town of Camden and its array of shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Enjoy mountain biking and hiking at the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area at the Camden Snow Bowl. From nearby Rockland, the Maine State Ferry Service plies the ocean waters to the offshore islands of Vinalhaven, North Haven and Matinicus.
