Birch Point Beach (Lucia Beach)

Birch Point Beach State Park is tucked away on a small peninsula fronting the Atlantic Ocean in Owls Head.  The crescent-shaped beach is a beautiful setting for a picnic and a swim in the invigorating waters of Penobscot Bay, and affords a panoramic view of the offshore islands scattered along Muscle Ridge Channel. Picnic tables and several outhouses are the only amenities at this scenic hideaway, where beachcombing and shore fishing for mackerel and rock bass are also popular activities.

Enjoy a visit to the Owls Head Transportation Museum and one of the finest collections of historic aircraft, automobiles, bicycles, carriages and engines in the world. The tree-lined streets of Thomaston are home to Montpelier, the replica of the home of Revolutionary War General Henry Knox and a living museum. Owls Head Light, built in 1852, still watches over Penobscot Bay and the islands of Vinalhaven. Main Street in the bustling waterfront city of Rockland is home to a wide array of shops, galleries a renown art museum and restaurants.
