Damariscotta Lake State Park

Damariscotta Lake is a large freshwater lake with a sandy beach at its northern end in Jefferson. The 17-acre Damariscotta Lake State Park encompasses the beach, a scenic place to swim and sunbathe and one of the region’s most popular play spots in summer. Picnic tables, drinking water and grills are available for cooking a delicious lakeside lunch or dinner. The swimming area sports a lifeguard, and there are changing rooms, pit toilets and a playground and ballfield nearby. A group shelter can be reserved for large gatherings.

Maine’s capital city of Augusta is just a short drive to the west and has numerous interesting attractions, including the Blaine House (Governor’s Mansion), Maine State House, Maine State Museum, Old Fort Western and the Pine Tree State Arboretum. Lake St. George State Park offers tent and RV camping on 38 sites, restrooms, showers, picnic tables and grills, a grassy field and swimming, and a boat launch. The vibrant coastal city of Rockland to the east has a complete range of services, shopping and restaurants.
