Lincolnville Beach

Scenic Lincolnville Beach stretches for a half mile just off Route 1 in the coastal village of the same name. Relax in the sun and swim in the waters of Penobscot Bay, all the while enjoying the panorama of Islesboro Island just offshore. Inland from the beach, the picturesque Camden Hills rise to over 1,000 feet, and are some of the highest mountains along the East Coast of the U.S. It is a truly beautiful spot to while away a summer day.

A small parking area is located just off the highway. There is no fee to use the beach, and there are no facilities. The long strip of beach slopes gradually into the bay, and is well protected from big waves by the islands. The beach is popular spot to launch a sea kayak or boat for exploring the islands, sightseeing and fishing.

Across the road from the beach in the heart of Lincolnville are a variety of shops, galleries and restaurants. Enjoy a stroll in the salty air, take in some leisurely shopping and dine on a fresh Maine lobster and a bowl of clam chowder. 

The Islesboro Ferry departs regularly for the 3-mile, 20-minute excursion between Lincolnville and Islesboro. The ferry docks next to Grindle Point Lighthouse and the Sailor's Memorial Museum. At Camden Hills State Park, drive the auto road to the top of Mt. Battie for a spectacular view of Camden Harbor, or take a walk on many miles of quiet, wooded trails. The trail to Maiden’s Cliff overlooking Megunticook Lake is a popular hike. The park offers tent and RV camping on 102 sites, restrooms, showers, a playground and day use area.
