Cycling Events
Throughout the spring, summer and fall in Maine, a wide variety of cycling events bring together bikers of all ages and abilities. From weekly rides organized by local cycle clubs, to rallies, races and benefit rides that attract thousands, there is always something happening in the world of Maine cycling. Here are just a few of many events to watch for:
- Father’s Day weekend marks the date of the three-day, 180-mile Trek Across Maine, from Newry to Belfast, organized to benefit the American Lung Association.
- Bike MS holds Bike to the Breakwater, a two-day ride at the end of July that starts and finishes at St. Joseph’s College in Standish, raising money for the Maine Chapter of the National MS Society.
- The Bicycle Coalition of Maine organizes many rides and events throughout the season, including the Annual Women’s Ride in June; the 3-day Maine Bike Rally in early July, and the Maine Lobster Ride and Roll later in the month.
- The Yarmouth Clam Festival Men’s and Women’s Professional Bike Race, now in its 30th year, is a Sunday morning event not to be missed at the three-day festival held on the third weekend of July in Yarmouth.
