A Keeper's Fraud

One lighthouse keeper on Whitehead Island, accused of fraud, sold surplus whale oil obtained by falsifying government records. John Watts, one keeper of the Portland Head Light, in an imaginative scheme for obtaining extra income, charged sea captains a fee for sounding the fog horn!
