Roque Bluffs State Park

Located in picturesque Downeast Maine, Roque Bluffs State Park is situated on 274 acres of land on Schoppee Point. While Roque Bluffs is not the largest of Maine beaches, it does offer the best of both saltwater and freshwater swimming.

In addition to having the option of swimming in the often chilly waters of Englishman Bay, visitors can also wade in the shallow—and fresh—waters of Simpson Pond.

Relatively remote, Roque Bluffs State Park is quiet and offers miles of hiking trails, cliffs and rocky shores to explore, and a unique pebbled beach for Maine swimming, beachcombing, and paddling. You should note that pets are not allowed on the beach area.

Kayakers and canoers will appreciate the location of Roque Bluffs State Park when they have the opportunity to explore the inlets and coves found in the park. One feature of particular interest is a bedrock outcropping at the east end of the beach; kayakers can view deep grooves in the bedrock left behind by glacial movement to the southeast.
