Swan Lake State Park

Swan Lake State Park is appropriately located on Swan Lake in Swanville, Maine. Boasting 67 acres and plenty of picnic sites, many equipped with grills, the park is perfect for families and large gatherings.

Given its seasonal nature, Swan Lake State Park may be enjoyed between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year when a lifeguard is on duty to watch over swimmers, fishermen, and others out in the waters. One of the newest additions to the Maine State Park system, Swan Lake is a unique combination of rolling hills and picturesque mountains which can be enjoyed from the shore or the water.

Maine canoeing and kayaking is a popular pastime in this part of the state and you’ll find Swan Lake filled with these small boats. The lake is surrounded by fishing camps and cabins as well as vacation rentals, so it makes sense that many choose to explore some of the 1,370 acres of water in a canoe or kayak. At just over 3 miles long, Swan Lake is the perfect place to enjoy Maine canoeing.

In addition, the south end of the lake offers public boat access and the lake itself is stocked with landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, white perch, brook trout and wild toque. If you’re not planning on navigating a canoe into the water to catch a few, you can plan to wade into the clear waters for a relaxing swim.
Swan Lake is a fantastic mid-coast Maine destination. While many choose to vacation here, it never feels overrun by tourists.
