Two Lights State Park

Quaint and picturesque Cape Elizabeth is home to Two Lights State Park, a 41-acre state park known for its rocky coastline, rolling surf, and excellent saltwater fishing. Once a WWII defense installation, concrete remnants remain at the park.

No place for swimming, this park is a popular destination for nature walkers, picnickers, and fishermen. The rocky cliffs supply plenty of places to stand and admire the marvelous views of Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, catch a glimpse of lobstermen hauling in their traps, and to cast your own reel.

According to the locals, saltwater fishing is at its finest along the rock cliffs of Two Lights. Plenty of Stripers are to be found “off the rocks in front of the restaurant,” if legend is to be believed.

Two Lights State Park is named for the twin lighthouses which grace its shores; one lighthouse is still functional and can be seen from 17 miles out to sea. The other lighthouse has since been converted to a private residence. On-site you’ll find a gift shop and full-service restaurant. Picnic tables are available for those who wish to enjoy their food in the open air.

Getting to Two Lights State Park is easy. Just follow the winding Route 77 through South Portland and Cape Elizabeth; you’ll find an access road forking off Route 77, just before Kettle Cove. The well-marked access road dead-ends at Two Lights.
