Vaughan Woods State Park

Located in the southern-most part of the state and near the Maine-New Hampshire border, Vaughan Woods State Park is a 250-acre forested plot of land that borders Salmon Falls River. Hiking trails are abundant and consist of several different, connected tracts that total more than 3 miles.

Hiking trails at Vaughan Woods State Park are well established and easy to follow. The total elevation gain is approximately 200 feet, so the hike is great for families looking to take a more casual stroll and view the wildlife and Salmon Falls, a 25 foot waterfall that divides South Berwick, Maine, and Rollinsford, New Hampshire.

Vaughan Woods State Park is a seasonal park, open Memorial Day through Labor Day. For families and individuals venturing through the self-guided trail, picnic tables and restrooms are available.

Close to the town of South Berwick, groceries, snacks, and restaurants are very accessible. Once you arrive in South Berwick, you’ll find the entrance to Vaughan Woods State Park just off Route 236.
