Bangor Loop: Maine, USA to New Brunswick, Canada

Day 1: Bangor, ME to Bar Harbor, ME

Upon arriving in the city of Bangor, take a scenic drive to Bar Harbor and spend an afternoon touring Acadia National Park.

Day 2: Bar Harbor, ME

The area around Bar Harbor offers many options for exploration. Visit the Abbe Museum or enjoy a casual walk in downtown Bar Harbor. Enjoy a spectacular cruise aboard the Schooner Margaret Todd a four-masted windjammer.

Day 3: Bar Harbor, ME to St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Today you will drive to St. Andrews, New Brunswick. On your way to New Brunswick, stop at the Quoddy Head Lighthouse and Downeast Heritage Center. Upon entry into New Brunswick, visit Ganong Chocolatier and discover the world of chocolate. Spend the rest of the day exploring the seaside resort town of St. Andrews.

Day 4: St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Your day will be spent discovering the beauty of St. Andrews. Search for whales, white-sided dolphins or harbour porpoises among one of the local vessels. Explore the vibrant colours and scents at Kingsbrae Garden or stroll along Water Street and discover one-of-a-kind artisans.

Day 5: St. Andrews, New Brunswick to Saint John, New Brunswick

Take your journey to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada’s oldest incorporated city. Explore the Old City Market and Reversing Falls. Visit The Fundy Trail Parkway in St. Martins.

Day 6: Saint John, New Brunswick to Fredericton, New Brunswick

Today’s adventure will take you to Fredericton, New Brunswick, the capital city. Visit Historic Garrison District, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery or Kings Landing Historical Settlement.

Day 7: Fredericton, New Brunswick to Bangor, ME

On your way back to the USA, travel along New Brunswick’s Saint John River Valley and view some of the Maritime’s most spectacular scenery. As you enter Houlton, enjoy shopping and explore the downtown area which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As you drive to Bangor, stop and visit the Aroostook Historical & Art Museum or The Patten Lumberman’s Museum.

Day 8: Bangor, ME

Begin your day at the Cole Land Transportation Museum where history comes alive. Explore downtown Bangor or head to Old Town and discover the Penobscot National Museum.

Day 9: Bangor, Maine

Conclude your vacation and have a safe trip home.

Fredricton Loop: New Brunswick, Canada to Maine, USA

Day 1: Fredericton, New Brunswick

Begin your adventure in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This is the capital of New Brunswick, a historic and cultural center with Victorian architecture, museums and art galleries. Take in over 20 attractions in a four-block radius.

Day 2: Fredericton, New Brunswick to St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Discover Canada’s oldest seaside resort town—St. Andrews by-the-Sea. Go whale watching, sea kayaking or drive across the ocean’s floor to Minister’s Island. Visit Kingsbrae Garden or golf at one of the Maritime’s best signature courses. Savour the local cuisine with fresh seafood and Atlantic salmon.

Day 3: St. Andrews, New Brunswick to Machias, ME

Spend the morning in St. Andrews’ historic downtown district. Visit local artisans, shops, studios and galleries. As you depart for the USA make sure to stop at Ganong Chocolatier in St. Stephen. Once in Maine, visit the Downeast Heritage Center and view an array of regional exhibits that cover 12,000 years of natural history. Stop at Raye’s Mustard Mill for a traditional Maine lobster bake and then explore the Quoddy Head Lighthouse.

Day 4: Machias, ME to Bar Harbor, ME

Begin the day by touring the Burnham Tavern Museum, the oldest building in eastern Maine with Revolutionary War history. Spend the afternoon at Acadia National Park and enjoy the sunset atop Cadillac Mountain.

Day 5: Bar Harbor, ME

Visit the Abbe Museum or enjoy a casual walk in downtown Bar Harbor. Enjoy a spectacular cruise aboard the Schooner Margaret Todd, a 4 masted windjammer.

Day 6: Bar Harbor, ME to Fredericton, New Brunswick

Return to Canada on Route 95 to Woodstock. Follow the Saint John River to Fredericton and visit Kings Landing Historical Settlement. Spend the evening on a river cruise or dine at a sidewalk café.

Day 7: Fredericton, New Brunswick

Conclude your vacation and have a safe trip home.
