Participation Guidelines
- Each listing should promote one specific offer and price. Vague listings will not be activated. All participating businesses may have up to five (5) active listings within the FreeStayMaine program.
- All offers must include at least one (1) overnight stay, with specific beginning and ending dates. If a package has any blackout dates or restrictions, they must be defined within the description field.
- All packages must include one (1) specific price within the numeric field. This “starting at” price must be available for the entire promotional period of that package. A range of rates is not allowed in the numeric field. Please explain your rate structure within the description itself (e.g., the rates for this 3-night package start at $xyz.00 based on double occupancy. Tax is additional). What are the occupancy restrictions (e.g., maximum of 4 adults)? Does the rate include or exclude tax? Are gratuities included in the rate? If the package has any restrictions, they must be identified within the description area (e.g., this rate is only available midweek).
- To follow Internet etiquette, do not use all caps when entering your text as it implies shouting. Use upper and lower case accordingly—this now includes the title.
- In order for us to track the value of this program, all participating businesses will need to complete a monthly report with their Actual Nights Sold as a direct-result of this program. This on-line report will be due by the 10th day of the following month, and you will receive one (1) monthly reminder by email. If you have no bookings to report, just complete the on-line form with zero (0) Actual Nights Sold for that month. NOTE: If a participant does not complete their report in a timely fashion, the system is now programmed to automatically deactivate all listings for that business.
- The package description field has a limit of 1,500 characters.
- Submission of listings with HTML formatting is not allowed in any part of the FreeStayMaine entry forms.
- Maine Office of Tourism reserves the right to edit listings in accordance with all program requirements.
Travel Agent Campaign
In addition to the above Participation Guidelines, here are some specific elements related to our Travel Agent Campaign:

To participate in our dedicated Travel Agent Campaign, as well as the primary consumer campaign, just make sure you check the last box on this entry form.
- In addition, if you would like to work with domestic and/or international trade professionals, the MOT has some free mailing lists for your use. FMI: (207) 624-9826.
