Jillian & Malcolm Bedell’s tips

Jillian & Malcolm Bedell

Jillian: I grew up in Connecticut, went to university in Boston, college in New Haven, did some post-grad soul searching in New York, exiled myself to Mexico, married my longtime sweetheart, and lived in a house on the ocean. I suspected Maine might be the perfect place to raise a family, so I came back home to New England two years ago. Now I am a mom to Violet Maeve and living in Rockland, where I hope to settle for a good, long while. I read, write, take walks, and practice Nia when not watching Malcolm photograph sandwiches.

Malcolm: My first memories of cooking start at about six years old, when I wore a yellow rainslicker to avoid getting splattered with the bacon I was frying in a skillet. After spending thirteen years bouncing between Brooklyn, New Haven, and a tiny fishing village on the Southern tip of Mexico, I have returned to my roots, settling in Mid-Coast Maine with my wife and daughter. Together, we comment on cooking, eating, and food culture in Maine on our website, From Away.
