Located on a square slab of granite at the end of a half-mile jetty, this station from a distance looks like a house drifting out to sea, with a small beacon attached. The lighthouse is open for tours on summer weekends. It can be reached by turning onto Waldo Ave. from Route 1, then turning right on Samoset Road, which ends in a small parking area just less than a mile's walk from the lighthouse. At least a dozen sailing vessels offer cruises that may pass by this light.
Rockland Breakwater Light was built in 1888.
