We needed a dog friendly, quiet place to unplug and rest amidst the beauty of nature. We found it int the Maine Northwoods, between Greenville and Kokadjo, Maine.

Visited Portland area and visited Cape Elizabeth with family. Very grateful that Cape Elizabeth lighthouse area was wheelchair accessible as my daughter is wheelchair bound. The weather was perfect and it was very scenic. I strongly recommend to visit Cape Elizabeth lighthouse particularly in the morning as we did

We began vacationing in Maine in 2010 and fell in love. We decided to travel to Maine at least once a year from then on. Last year we went after lobster fest in the end of August. We drove from Soutwest Pennsylvania all the way to Searsport, Maine and worked our way down to York, Maine. Throughout our trip we took over a 1,000 pictures! and would like to share them with you.

I kicked off my Route 1 trip in Fort Kent, Maine. From the moment I drove my RV into town, until I drove over the Maine border and into New Hampshire, my drive through Maine was beyond wonderful. From seeing moose up close for the first time, to the windmills atop Mars Hill, it was a spectacularly beautiful trip. I kept a blog of my trip at www.americas highwayusroute1.com. After the trip ended I turned the blog into a book, America's Highway: A

We stayed in a lovely bed and breakfast in Bethel and although the weather was wet and miserable for most of our four-night stay, we still made the most of our time out driving and taking in some beautiful scenery, capturing some lovely memories not only on our cameras, but also in our hearts. We will be back to discover more of Maine in the years to come.

This was our first trip to the extraordinary New England states. I am a half marathon runner and trying to run all 52 states so we decided it was time to go out East and what better place than the New England in the fall. So we did a road trip down through Canada to Vermont and down the scenic Route 302 to Portland, ME where I ran my first half during this trip, and then to Hartford, Connecticut to run another half, then Boston, Cape Cod and Newport
