The museum is housed in a restored, wooden, circa-1909 Roman Catholic Church. The former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church is unique and architecturally significant. Its twin Baroque-style belfries support sculptures of two archangels blowing trumpets. Each was sculpted in 1908 by Quebec artist Louis Jobin. The museum and cultural center houses a large collection of Acadian artifacts. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
