Description
Located on a one-acre campus in downtown Portland, Maine Historical Society promotes the understanding and enjoyment of Maine history. It is comprised of the Longfellow House, home of 19th-century poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; the Brown Library, the state's most comprehensive historical and genealogical library; and the MHS Museum. Drawing from the extensive collections of Maine Historical Society, the Museum features changing exhibitions and programs spanning more than five centuries of Maine life.
