Lunksoos is a historic camp uniquely located on the E. Branch of the Penobscott River just north of Staceyville, ME and 1.6 miles from the Hunt Farm mentioned in "The Maine Woods" by Henry David Thoreau whose camp was just south of Lunksoos on their expedition to climb Mt. Kathadin. The grounds at camp are beautiful and we have a private boat launch on the river.
The area is now being protected and remains virtually the same as in those times. This is a wild area where you can experience nature at its best. There are deer, moose, bear, rabbit, grouse and turkey in our immediate area. There are also plenty of birds to watch. The camp is located in the middle of thousands of acres of conservation land.
