Description
The New Sweden Museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts from Swedish settlement in northern Maine. Maine's Swedish Colony was established in 1870, when William Widgery Thomas (US ambassador to Sweden, and a Maine native) brought the first group of Swedish immigrants to settle on land set aside for them by the State of Maine.
