The Jonesport Historical Society was established in 2003 as a non-profit corporation to preserve the rich history of the village of Jonesport, where families today continue the maritime traditions of their ancestors.
Public meetings are scheduled for the 4th Thursday of each month from March through October from 6:30 till 8:30p.m., at the Peabody Memorial Library.
A digital Jonesport Heritage Center consisting of 3 databases is available to the public on 2 computers in the library. A Genealogy database contains information on 68,000 people. A Cemeteries database contains information on all 4300 gravestones in town. An Archives database currently contains 6200 historic photos,6500 pages of text, and 400 video clips.
