The Tubbs - Reed House dates back to the 1800s and overlooks the Kennebec River.
The campground has 10 Adirondack shelters, 3 flush restrooms and potable water. It overlooks the Kennebec River and Little Swan Island.
An Island in Time, Swan Island is located in the Kennebec River in Richmond, just 20 minutes south of Augusta. There are nesting bald eagles, deer and waterfowl; 5 historic homes dating back to the 1700s; hiking and camping. The Island is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers gorgeous scenery and great photo opportunities. Visitors may self-access in canoes or kayaks; and/or bring or arrange a ferry ride over with a mountain bike to ride the 4 mile long dirt central road.
