Whaleback Ledge Light Station

1 Park Drive Rockland, ME US 04841

Whaleback Ledge Light Station was established in 1820 to guard the entrance to Portsmouth Harbor. The station looks like its name suggests: a lighthouse perched atop the back of a whale. The station has been rebuilt several times. It is closed to the public but can be seen from the water or from Fort Foster in Kittery.
