Camden, Rockport & Lincolnville

Well-loved by visitors and residents alike, the towns of Camden, Rockport and Lincolnville are in the heart of mid-coast Maine. The mountains tumble down to meet the ocean's edge, creating some of the best views and hiking opportunities in the state. Camden Hills State Park has over 100 camping sites, and hikers of all levels can enjoy the 30 miles of hiking trails and breathtaking views of Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay from Mt. Battie.

The town of Camden has a rich maritime heritage and an impressive resident fleet of classic windjammers. Each summer, the Camden Windjammer Festival draws thousands of visitors eager to explore the ships and learn what life was like on the four, five and even six-masted schooners. A truly unique way to explore mid-coast Maine is aboard one of these antique ships. To get a bit closer to the water, try a kayak tour. There are a number of companies that offer day and overnight trips leaving from Camden or Rockport Harbor or on nearby Megunticook Lake.

Land lovers will enjoy the variety of outdoor recreation in the area as well. The Samoset Resort Golf Club in Rockport is an 18-hole, oceanside championship course, considered the best in Maine by Golf Digest. The 66-acre Merryspring Nature Center in Camden and Rockport is great for walking, birding and cross country skiing. Visitors can even ski nearby at the Camden Snow Bowl, a ski and recreation area on Ragged Mountain. There you can also enjoy snow tubing, ice skating or catch a ride down the thrilling 400' toboggan chute, where the National Toboggan Championships are held the first weekend of February. 

Epicureans will delight in this area's many dining options from classic New England fare to modern French. Experience Maine's first vineyard at Lincolnville's Cellardoor Winery, where they create nearly two dozen delicious, handcrafted grape and blueberry wines. Only ten minutes from Camden, you can enjoy free tastings, and winery and vineyard tours.
