Classes and Camps Offer Fun Food Adventures

Maine is a mouth-watering destination full of culinary delights for all family members. Kids can explore a whole world of food-related activities here, by themselves or with the family—there’s simply no end to eating, cooking, having fun, and learning about Maine food.

Bethel Camp for the Arts, located at Gould Academy in Bethel, offers instruction for campers ranging in age from 8-15. Those with a passion for culinary arts can take cooking class taught by Chef Cathi DiCoco in her professional kitchen located near her restaurant, Café DiCoco. Kids at this creative camp can also learn about care of barnyard animals such a turkeys, goats, chicken, sheep and Alpacas.

Tom Gutow, chef at the historic Castine Inn, knows how to cater to kids’ desire to create in the kitchen—he offers private cooking classes just for them. Parents staying at the Inn can enjoy the area while the kids spend some time cooking in the kitchen, or the whole family can take a cooking class together.

The Blueberry Point Chefs of Perry offer a unique culinary adventure on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay for all members of the family. They also host Kids’ Culinary Camp as part of the Eastport Arts Center Summer Youth Program. Kids ages 8-14 engage in three days of cooking adventures, including baking and cookie decorating, contributing to a Mexican-themed cooking day, and learning to make healthy dishes.
