Pie-Eating Contests, Veggie Parades—Maine Festivals Have it All

At Maine festivals, the kids’ tent is always a lively favorite. At the Maine Lobster Festival, the kids’ tent houses imaginative food-focused activities, such as the Cod Fish Carry and a Lobster Eating Contest for hungry young lobster lovers. At the Common Ground Fair in Unity, kids can don veggie costumes to participate in the Vegetable Garden Parade (costumes and noisemakers available). The fair’s Maine Apple Tent has ongoing opportunities for kids to learn about the benefits of Maine apples by participating in activities and games—they can even enter an apple pie eating contest.

Maine farm fairs and festivals have an abundance of food tastings, organic produce, and agricultural events, as well as educational and off-the-wall kid-focused activities. Find out more about festivals and fairs that feature food, and the thriving world of Maine’s farms and local growers at Maine’s Farmer’s Markets, Fairs and Festivals.
