Maine Shrimp Casserole

  • 8 slices bread, buttered and cubed 
  • ½ lb sharp cheese, cut up fine 
  • 2 cups cooked Maine shrimp 
  • 3 eggs, well beaten 
  • 2 ½ cups milk (1 can cream of celery soup may be substituted for 1 cup milk) 
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 325°F.

Alternate layers of bread cubes, cheese, and shrimp (starting with bread cubes) in a buttered casserole. Beat eggs thoroughly; add milk and salt, and pepper, too (if you wish). Mix well and turn over the contents of casserole.

Bake for 1 hour.

Serves 4 generously.
