Guided Remote Ponds Fly Fishing Excursion

AMC Guides are passionate about the outdoors and have the skills necessary to ensure safe adventures. Certified in wilderness medicine, with focused training in outdoor leadership and risk management, guides provide individual attention while reaching group goals. Early summer is the perfect time to explore some of the remote ponds that dot the AMC's Maine Woods Initiative property. This program provides anglers the opportunity to fish for both Native and Wild Brook Trout while accompanied by trained AMC guides. Programming starts Friday evening after dinner with a presentation on native and wild brook trout and what the AMC is doing to preserve their fragile habitat. Saturday morning before breakfast the early risers will head down to Little Lyford pond in search of early summer squaretails. After breakfast participants will be shuttled to remote ponds where they will spend the day with AMC guides in search for colorful native brookies. Each participant will be given individual attention. Fishing guides will be around all day to give instruction, help with fly selection, and work with the angler on any specific problem. All participants will get a custom box of flies that are known for attracting brook trout in the area. Minimum age is 10. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants will need to purchase at least a two day Maine fishing license and bring a fishing rod, reel, line, leader, and an assortment of flies. Fly Rods can be rented in advance for a fee of $25 for the program. Bring a sleeping bag and a towel as they are not provided at LLPC. Activity level: Moderate. Rates include lodging, meals, guided activities and instruction, and a box of flies from the Maine Guide Fly Shop. Higher rates apply for private cabins.
