Ferry Beach State Park in Saco is nestled between Old Orchard Beach and Camp Ellis near the southern end of the longest continuous stretch of sand beach in Maine. The 117-acre park features Ferry Beach and two and a half miles of scenic beach fronting on Saco Bay. From the comfort of your beach blanket enjoy the sea air, the breaking waves and far reaching views up and down the coastline. Enjoy hours of delightful swimming, combing the beach for shells, building sand castles with the family and just plain relaxing in the summer sun.
Two miles of easy nature trails wend through woods and wetlands of the park and reveal a variety of interesting ecosystems, including a rare stand of tupelo trees. On the popular guided nature walks the whole family will have fun learning about the flora and fauna, and natural and human history of Ferry Beach. After your walk, choose a table and grill in the picnic area and cook up a delicious meal. A group shelter can be reserved in advance for large parties.
Parking is available a short walk from the beach, and there are restrooms and changing rooms for your comfort.
At nearby Ocean Park, take a hike and explore the salt marsh ecosystem protected by the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Take in the beach resort town of Old Orchard Beach and enjoy the fun arcades and exciting amusement rides, the wide variety of delicious beach foods and the many shops along Beach Street.
