Antiques and Collectibles

Maine towns such as Wells, Wiscasset, Searsport, Hallowell and Cornish are renowned destinations for serious antiques and collectibles shoppers. However, you can find antiquing opportunities throughout the state in historic downtown buildings, rural barns, former sea captain's mansions and renovated mills. There are more than 60 antique shops on the Maine Antique Trail but that’s not all that is to be found—there are dozens more throughout the state and discovering them is a collector’s adventure. Antiquing in Maine is also about flea market and tag sale finds—and garage, barn and lawn sales are practically a Saturday morning tradition here.

You can also plan a visit during the oldest decorative arts and antique sale in the country, held annually in August at the Woodlawn Museum in Ellsworth. You can learn about other events and shopping opportunities by visiting the Maine Antiques Dealers Association, the Maine Antique Digest or the Maine Antique Trail websites.
