Campgrounds in Maine

The urge to go camping comes from an instinct to get back to a simpler life.  A desire to spend your days and nights closer to nature. The urge to go camping comes from an instinct to get back to a simpler life.  A desire to spend your days and nights closer to nature.

And that’s where Maine comes in.  Because however you want to camp, and however close you wish to be with nature, you can do it here. It might be an easily accessible spot for your comfy RV, or a rustic mountain cabin with bunk beds, or a primitive campsite with a crackling fire to keep you warm.  It might be on a beach near Portland, or along a river by Moosehead Lake, or on a tiny island in the Atlantic Ocean.

There are the 12 state park campgrounds that give you a full range of camping options throughout the most beautiful parts of the state.  And of course there’s Acadia National Park, which holds some of the most picturesque camping to be had in the entire world.

Campgrounds in Maine range from roughing it in the wilderness to amenities that verge on luxury. Most have sites for tents, small trailers and large motor homes. Many amenities include hot showers and wheelchair accessible wash rooms, dumping stations, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, group campsites, boat launches and firewood for sale. Check out MECOA, the Maine Camping Guidefor more information.
